Alessandro Albanese

Alessandro Albanese Gallery is a contemporary art gallery based in Milan and Matera. The Milan gallery is located inside a historic and elegant building in the city’s historic centre, Via Vettabbia 3. The second exhibition space is located in Matera, at Via XX Settembre 25, inside the Palazzo Caropreso, a building of historical and cultural interest.

Albanese Gallery was founded in 1986 in Matera, the European Capital of Culture in 2019, in the heart of the Sassi, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the years, the gallery has hosted exhibitions by leading artists such as Takis, Leoncillo, Carla Accardi, Riccardo Licata, Renato Guttuso and others, confirming it as a point of reference for modern art in Italy.

In 2019, Alessandro took over the family business by opening the gallery’s second location in Milan. The gallery focuses on the new languages of contemporary art by young international artists and promotes their work for the first time in Italy.
