Emiliana Henriquez

1986, Salvadorean.

Emiliana Henriquez’s (b.1985, El Salvador) work delves into vulnerability and shared emotional experiences. The artist sees her portraits of others as a way to visualise parts of herself. “Warm Blue Velvet,” her 2025 solo exhibition with Half Gallery, was inspired by a trip to Egypt, where Henriquez was struck by the similarities in headwear between women across faiths. These women and the religious devotion evoked by their covered hair became the subjects of quiet, tritonal portraits. In previous group shows, including at Half Gallery, Superposition, and Andrea Festa Fine Art, the artist explored her experiences as a Latin American woman of colour in monochromatic portraits.

In 2024, Henriquez completed the prestigious Fountainhead Artist Residency in Miami. She has also exhibited in a solo show at Fortnight Institute and a group show with the FLAG Art Foundation in New York and Half Gallery in LA. She has participated in art fairs such as The Armory Show and Felix Art Fair.
